Shorts work just like normal videos here
A Short is a regular YouTube video in an upright frame. Ytgrabber handles it the same way: paste the link, choose a format, grab the file. You do not need to change the link or remove anything from it.
From the Shorts player to your camera roll
- While the Short plays in the YouTube app, tap Share and then Copy link.
- Switch to your browser and open this page.
- Paste the link into the box. MP4 (720p) is preselected.
- Tap Download. When the result card says "Download ready", tap Download on it.
- On iPhone, open Files, tap the clip, then Share and Save Video. On Android, the clip is in Downloads and shows up in most gallery apps.
Our test Short of about one and a half minutes was ready in roughly 26 seconds.
Looks soft? Grab it again in 1080p
Shorts are filmed upright, and the quality labels in the menu were made for wide videos. If the saved clip looks blurry on your phone, paste the link again and pick MP4 (1080p). Expect a clearly bigger file.
Only the sound of a Short
Heard a song or a funny line in a Short? Open the menu, scroll to the Audio group and choose MP3. You get a small audio file that plays in any music app or works as a starting point for a ringtone. The same Audio group also lists M4A, WAV and other formats if an app asks for one of those.
Good habits for saving Shorts
- Save the clips you care about soon. When a creator removes a Short, its link stops working.
- Save one Short at a time. Paste the next link after the first file is done.
- Use Wi-Fi when you save many Shorts at 1080p, as the files add up quickly.
- Rename the files if you collect many; Shorts titles are often only hashtags.
- Keep a folder per topic, such as recipes or workouts, so you find a clip again in seconds.
Sending a saved Short
Once the clip is on your phone, it travels like any video you filmed yourself. Drop it into a chat, and your friends can watch it without the YouTube app and without a fast connection. For your own Shorts, the saved MP4 is also the quickest way to post the same clip on other platforms.
Shorts on a computer
On youtube.com, Shorts open in their own player. Copy the address from the browser bar while the Short plays; it contains "/shorts/" and the video ID. Paste it here the same way as on a phone. You will find the MP4 in Downloads, ready for VLC or the built-in player.
More from Ytgrabber
For long videos, use YouTube to MP4 with the full quality range. For music, YouTube to MP3 starts with MP3 selected. The homepage offers every format.
Shorts FAQ
Does the video keep its upright shape?
Yes. The MP4 keeps the 9:16 frame of the Short, so it fills a phone screen.
Can I pick the MP4 quality for a Short?
Yes, every entry in the Video group works. For upright clips, 720p and 1080p are the most useful.
Can I save Shorts on a tablet?
Yes. Copy the link in the YouTube app and paste it here in the tablet's browser.
How long can a Short be?
YouTube allows Shorts of up to three minutes. Longer videos work here too; they just take a little more time.
What if the Short is private?
Private and deleted Shorts cannot be fetched. Only public clips work.
Ytgrabber is not made by YouTube or Google. Save Shorts only when the creator allows it or the clip is yours.
