The quickest way to the sound

This page skips the menu work. MP3 is selected when the page opens, so all you do is paste and press. In our tests a short clip turned into an MP3 in under 20 seconds.

Paste, press, save

1. Copy the YouTube link. In the YouTube app that means Share, then Copy link; in a browser, use the address bar.
2. Paste it into the box above. On a phone you can also long-press the box and choose Paste.
3. Press Download. A progress bar shows the conversion.
4. On the "Download ready" card, press Download again. The MP3 is saved under the video's title.

What the MP3 looks like

The files we tested were 320 kbps, 44.1 kHz stereo. That is the highest common MP3 setting, so the file sounds good on headphones and car speakers alike. The video thumbnail is built in as cover art, which makes the track easy to spot in your music app.

The sound cannot beat the original upload. If a video has weak audio, the MP3 will have it too.

MP3 on phone, PC and in the car

• Android: the file appears in Downloads, and most music players and VLC pick it up.
• iPhone: open it from the Files app. To get it into the Music app, add it to your library on a computer and sync.
• Windows and Mac: double-click to play, or drag it into your music library.
• Car: copy the MP3 files to a USB stick. Nearly every car stereo with a USB port reads MP3.

Good to know before you start

• Use the link of the single video, not of a playlist page.
• Music videos with long intros keep the intro in the MP3. Trim it in any audio editor if it bothers you.
• Keep the tab in front while it works. Some phones pause pages that run in the background.

MP3 or M4A for music?

Both play almost everywhere today. MP3 is the older and safer choice for car stereos, old MP3 players and some smart speakers. M4A files are smaller, which is handy for long podcasts but matters less for songs. If in doubt, stay with MP3 on this page.

Build a playlist from single tracks

Can I pick a lower bitrate to save space?

The menu has one MP3 entry. For smaller audio files, switch the menu to M4A or OPUS instead.

How long does a long mix take?

Longer than a short clip. Leave the tab open until the result card shows up, then save the file.

Why does my MP3 have a picture?

The video thumbnail is stored as cover art inside the file. Players show it next to the track.

Can I use the MP3 in a video project?

Yes, any editor imports MP3. For heavy editing, switching the menu to WAV leaves more room for changes.

Is the cover art always there?

It was in every MP3 we tested. Some older players simply do not show it.

Does it work on a tablet?

Yes. The page works the same on iPad and Android tablets as on a phone.
